Shadows is a cinematic portrait of a nation negotiating its identity in real time, exploring how politics and power are performed, challenged and resisted. Through intimate encounters and public events, we experience the lives of those who reside in the shadows and those who cast them. The film invites audiences to reflect on power, identity and belonging and the way we see one another.
Taletta is an independent documentary studio producing cinematic non-fiction.
We strive to make films that are captivating, carefully crafted, truthful and original - and are especially drawn to stories whose endings haven't happened yet.
The Name
Taletta takes its name from the grandmother of the company's director, whose curiosity, determination and commitment to truth shape our ethos.
When capitalised, the TT in her name calls to mind the Japanese torii gate, a symbol marking a passage from the mundane, physical world to the sacred, spiritual realm— a bridge between the ordinary and the extraordinary. It's a reminder for us of what documentary can do and be.
